Registration & Enrollment
Welcome to Akron Public Schools! Register your new student using Akron Public Schools’ online registration system. A new student is defined as new to Akron Public Schools and having never attended a school in Akron Public Schools or a previous Akron Public Schools student who withdrew and is re-enrolling. Review the K-12 enrollment below for either a new student or a student following the open enrollment process.
Enroll in Person
Families wishing to enroll new students into the district may do so at any time during normal business hours. Central registration is located at:

New Students
Be sure to have any Required Documents (see ‘Enrollment Resources’ below) as you complete the registration process. Click Find My School, and enter an address to find your assigned school.
Entering Preschool or Pre-K Fall 2025
Check out our Preschool and Pre-K Registration. Students who will be age four (4) by Sept. 30 and are potty trained are eligible to enroll in the APS pre-K program. Students who will be age three (3) by Sept. 30 are eligible to enroll in half-day preschool classes.
Entering Kindergarten Fall 2025
Check out our Kindergarten Registration. Students must be five (5) years old by September 30 to enroll for kindergarten.
New Student Registration Fall 2025
Check out our Online Enrollment Guide for step-by-step instructions to complete enrollment for your new student. A new student is defined as new to Akron Public Schools and having never attended a school in Akron Public Schools or a previous Akron Public Schools student who withdrew and is re-enrolling.
Open Enrollment 2025-26
Families interested in exploring APS school options outside of their neighborhood school must open enroll during our designated period, typically from October until January.
Open enrollment for 2025-26 is now closed. Contact the engagement center with questions.
Current Student Information Update
Having up-to-date contact and health information is critical for all APS students so that we can keep parents up to date with information, announcements and in cases of emergency. A current student is defined as currently enrolled in Akron Public Schools. Click Home Access Center to verify your current information. If there are no changes, please sign and submit the form.
APS Students Who Are Moving
If you are moving, please contact your student’s school for assistance; or you may call the Engagement Center at 330.761.2810.
Enrollment Resources
Required Documents
- Child’s official birth certificate
- Child’s immunization record
- Two proof-of-residency documents for the parent-guardian (Proof of residency is any “official” mail coming to the parent/guardian’s address that includes their name, address and a current date.)
- The first proof of residence must be one of the following:
- utility bill (within 60 days)
- lease/rental agreement
- home sales agreement
- The second proof of residence can include any of the following:
- bank statement
- personal bill
- postal change of address
- current pay stub
- local, state or federal document
**Please note that “junk” mail will not be accepted.
- The first proof of residence must be one of the following:
- Photo ID for parent/guardian
- Custody papers (if there has been a divorce from a birth parent or a custody issue of any kind)
- IEP and ETR (if the current IEP/ETR was issued by any other school or district, other than Akron Public schools)
